China Eastern Booking Not Found After Trip.com or an Agent: Is Your Ticket Valid?

A booking that cannot be retrieved for online seat selection may still be ticketed. Check issuance, use the official China Eastern verification route, and know when an agent must fix it.

Quick answer: A Trip.com/OTA booking showing “confirmed” and a China Eastern seat-selection screen saying “No related trips were found” are not proof of the same thing. First obtain the airline-issued 13-digit e-ticket number and operating-carrier details. Verify the ticket with China Eastern; then separate a genuinely unissued ticket from a flight that is simply not eligible for online seat selection or check-in. Do not buy another ticket based on the seat-selection error alone.

What “No related trips were found” actually establishes

China Eastern's own check-in and seat-selection guide says the equivalent “no itinerary record found” message can appear when entered information is incorrect or when no itinerary segment is eligible for that online function. It advises trying the ticket number. This does not certify ticket validity either way.

These are deliberately fake examples; do not copy them into an airline form. Check the operating airline and your actual ticket before entering a number.

China Eastern maintains an official online ticket-verification page and, in a March 2025 consumer notice, describes verification in the airline app / WeChat mini program via 服务大厅 → 客票验证. If a page fails or is unavailable in your market, use airline support to confirm ticket issuance rather than assuming a failed web query proves fraud.

Five-step recovery when your trip will not appear

  1. Open the original agency receipt. Check passenger names, route, fare and “ticket issued” status. Find the 13-digit e-ticket number; if absent, ask the seller for it.
  2. Verify with China Eastern. Use the official ticket-verification channel, matching the requested surname/other fields exactly. Do not publicly share the full number.
  3. Check the actual operating carrier and service. A flight sold with a China Eastern code may be operated by a partner; certain seat-selection/check-in functions are not universal.
  4. Fix the right problem. If the ticket is unissued, the agent must address issuance. If verified but the booking cannot be managed online, request seat/check-in eligibility and airport counter instructions from the carrier.
  5. Escalate before departure. Save support case IDs and ask for written confirmation of ticket status and the terminal/check-in counter/deadline for your departure airport.

Ticket verified, but online seat selection still fails?

China Eastern's online seat-selection terms apply only to specified China Eastern/Shanghai Airlines operated itineraries and eligible categories of travelers. Its online check-in rules set separate flight and airport restrictions. Even where a ticket is valid, a partner sector or excluded route may not be self-serviceable.

Do not rely on a generic check-in deadline. Deadlines depend on departure airport. For example, China Eastern announced a 60-minute before departure LAX check-in cutoff effective May 2026; do not apply the same limit to another airport.

If your flight is close, get a confirmed counter-check-in plan before spending more time retrying the website. Allow time for passport, visa/transit and baggage checks.

Copy a message for the agent or airline

To the agency (English)

“My order [masked agency order] is shown as confirmed, but China Eastern cannot retrieve it using the information I have. Please provide the issuing airline, 13-digit e-ticket number, airline PNR, exact name fields and each coupon status. Please confirm in writing whether this is an issued, currently valid ticket.”

To China Eastern (English)

“My agent supplied e-ticket [masked number] for flight [MU/flight/date]. The official seat-selection/check-in tool displays ‘no related trips’ or ‘reservation not found.’ Can you check the ticket issuance/status separately from online-service eligibility and tell me my counter-check-in options?”

Frequently asked questions

Does “confirmed” in Trip.com mean China Eastern has issued my ticket?

Not necessarily. Request and verify the airline-issued ticket number and record.

Does the “reservation not found” message mean I was scammed?

No. The service itself may not show otherwise valid flight segments. Verification and airline/agent confirmation are needed.

Can I still check in at the airport?

A valid ticket may require staffed counter check-in, but only your airline can confirm this for your route and passenger situation.

Should I buy another ticket?

First resolve issuance/validity with the original seller and airline. Duplicate purchases can introduce extra cost and refund complexity.
