01 Compare
Best Beijing areas at a glance
We compare five Beijing areas, not individual hotels or live prices.
Wangfujing / central Dongcheng
A practical first-trip base for major-sight plans
Qianmen
A strong match for historic Beijing and hutong-oriented plans
Sanlitun
A clear choice when food and nightlife shape your stay
Dongzhimen
A practical choice for a short stay with airport convenience
Guomao / CBD
A business-first choice for modern Beijing
02 First visit
Best for first-time visitors
If major sights and simple planning are the point of your first Beijing trip, choose “First trip / major sights” and “Walkability to sights.” Wangfujing / central Dongcheng is the default result; Qianmen is the alternative when historic-Beijing atmosphere matters more.
03 Compare
Wangfujing vs Qianmen
Choose Wangfujing / central Dongcheng for a broad first-trip sightseeing base where walkability matters. Choose Qianmen when historic Beijing or hutong atmosphere is more important. Check the exact hotel details before booking; individual properties differ.
04 Historic Beijing
Where to stay near the Forbidden City
For a history-centered itinerary, select “Forbidden City / historic Beijing” in the picker. Qianmen is the first choice, with Wangfujing / central Dongcheng as the nearby planning alternative. Once you have an area, use the Forbidden City ticket decision before treating a hotel choice as a complete sightseeing plan.
05 Evenings
Best for food and nightlife
Select food and nightlife in both questions if evening plans are your deciding factor. Sanlitun is the first choice for that combination. If your stay also needs a modern-business base, compare it with Guomao / CBD rather than assuming the two solve the same trip.
06 Short stay
Best for a short stay / airport access
Select airport convenience when a short stay or PEK connection outweighs sightseeing walkability. Dongzhimen is the first choice. If you are entering Beijing on a transit itinerary, check the Beijing 240-hour transit eligibility first; it is a separate entry decision.
07 Booking check
Can foreign travelers stay in Beijing hotels?
This page chooses an area, not a property. Confirm the exact property’s current guest requirements and your reservation details directly before booking. This page does not claim foreign-guest acceptance for any hotel.
After you choose an area, continue with the Mutianyu vs Badaling decision if the Great Wall is part of the trip, or use the China transit visa checker for the broader entry route.
