Zhangjiajie Tickets for Foreigners: Which Attraction Should You Book?
“Zhangjiajie ticket” is not one product. The Avatar-style pillars, Tianmen Cave cableway and Grand Canyon glass bridge are different attractions with different tickets and starting points.
Quick answer: If you want the sandstone pillars that dominate Zhangjiajie photos, book Wulingyuan / Zhangjiajie National Forest Park. If you want Tianmen Cave, the cliff walks and cableway, book Tianmen Mountain. If you want the famous long glass bridge over a canyon, book Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon. These are separate attractions; buying one does not admit you to the others.

What is the image in your head?
This is the core landscape area with the sandstone peak forest. Advance ticket reservation is required. Multiple gates exist, so the gate on your booking matters.
Book Tianmen Mountain.As of 16 October 2026, the main Tianmen cableway is under upgrade and only Round-Trip Route C is open until further notice. Do not buy an A/B route from stale itinerary content.
Book Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon.The Grand Canyon and its glass bridge are in Cili County and are not included with Wulingyuan or Tianmen Mountain. Hunan government information lists a Grand Canyon + glass bridge product, but verify the live price and operating conditions on your date.
Use one major attraction per day.A practical first-time split is Wulingyuan/National Forest Park for the peak forest and Tianmen Mountain on a separate day. Add Grand Canyon only if you have more time or specifically prioritize the glass bridge.

Current Tianmen Mountain alert: Route C only
The Tianmen Mountain notice published 10 October 2026 says that from 13 October 2026 the entire main Tianmen Mountain Cableway stops passenger service for upgrade work. Until a new reopening notice appears:
- Routes A and B are suspended.
- One-way Routes 1 and 2 are suspended.
- Only Round-Trip Cableway Route C is open.
- Ticket sales are listed as 07:30–16:00; passenger operation starts at 08:00.
- Route C includes the round-trip Tianmen Cave Express Cableway and upper seven-stage escalator.
- The lower Tianmen Stairway escalator is not included in the Route C package.
Before you pay: six checks that prevent the wrong ticket
- Exact attraction name: Wulingyuan/National Forest Park, Tianmen Mountain, or Grand Canyon.
- Exact date and time slot: especially important for real-name Tianmen bookings.
- Passport field: enter the document you will physically carry.
- Entry gate / route: a Wulingyuan gate or Tianmen route label changes where you start.
- Included transport: cableway, elevator, shuttle and escalator products are not automatically the same thing.
- Refund/change terms: save the product detail before paying.

If you already bought the wrong “Zhangjiajie” ticket
- Open the issued voucher and find the exact attraction name in Chinese and English.
- Do not travel to a gate purely from the seller's marketing photo.
- Check the ticket's route/gate and date before it is used.
- Contact the issuing platform immediately for its amendment/refund process.
- If the ticket is Tianmen A/B during the current Route C-only period, verify whether the operator has reissued or changed the product before traveling.
