Chengdu Panda Base Tickets Without a Chinese Phone Number: Passport Guide (2026)
Quick answer · Panda Base rules checked October 12, 2026
The Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding officially accepts foreign passports for identity-based admission and lists Trip.com as an authorized ticket platform alongside its WeChat channels. Ordinary visitors should reserve online for the selected date and morning or afternoon entry period. If the official mini-program blocks your overseas number, try the authorized Trip.com booking path. The Base says travelers who genuinely cannot pay online may ask at the on-site window **only while tickets remain**—not a guaranteed walk-in exception on sold-out days.
Book the correct Panda Base admission
Authorized channel
Reserve up to 14 days ahead with passport details.
Morning or afternoon
Select the actual entry period; it is not interchangeable.
Use passport lane
Present the matching document for staff verification.

Is Trip.com an official ticket seller?
Yes. The Base’s English ticket page explicitly names Trip.com, Meituan, Tongcheng, Douyin and local scenic shuttle channels as authorized sellers, in addition to its WeChat account and mini-program. Use the link from the Base’s own page to identify the correct attraction.
The Base’s 2026 Spring Festival visitor announcement specifically notes that foreigners who cannot book online because they lack a Chinese phone number can use Trip.com or approach the Cash and Cards service window if tickets remain. That exception is conditional; reservations are usually compulsory for ordinary admission.
An older visitor complaint explicitly reported being blocked by a Chinese-number field and being unsure whether they could enter on a sold-out holiday. This exact phone-number fallback is more useful than a generic Chengdu itinerary.
How to reserve by foreign passport
- Start with the official Panda Base ticket page. Check that you are buying Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding, not Dujiangyan Panda Valley, which is a separate attraction.
- Choose either an official Chinese booking channel you can use or an explicitly authorized third party such as Trip.com. Do not assume every seller offering tours is authorized to sell standalone admission.
- Enter each visitor’s passport name and number exactly as required by the checkout. One ticket applies to one visitor and one identity document.
- Pick the visit date and entry period, morning or afternoon. The Base permits reservations up to 14 days ahead, subject to remaining quota.
- Confirm the actual ticket was issued. An email order request, paid tour inquiry or payment pending is not proof of admission.
- Bring the original valid passport used to book. Use the designated Passport & Other Documents verification lane when instructed, not the domestic resident card scanner.
The Chinese official ticket policy has slightly different lane descriptions across versions. Follow the latest signs and staff instructions at the Base; a digital passport photo should never be treated as a guaranteed universal substitute for carrying the original document.
Time slots, ticket price and age exemptions
| Booking fact | Official rule or practical consequence |
|---|---|
| Adult entry | Listed as ¥55 on the official ticket page for eligible adult visitors |
| Reservation lead time | Up to 14 days; no guarantee a specific day remains available |
| March–October morning | 07:30–12:00 entry |
| March–October afternoon | 12:00–17:00 entry |
| November–February | Morning begins at 08:00; afternoon ends at 16:30 |
| Age exceptions | Visitors aged 60+ and children under 6 or below 1.3m are exempt from advance reservation under published rules, with valid identity proof |
The actual ticket’s eligibility and document instructions govern. Avoid claiming every under-six child has a reserved independent seat on a sightseeing shuttle; free entry and bus seating are different questions.
North/South/West gates: base area and entrance transport can create lengthy queues. A September 2026 official holiday notice recommended entering via the West Gate during peak crowding. Do not assume every ride-hailing pickup pin points to that gate; verify directions from the specific address and date.
Online payment fails or admission shows sold out
- No +86 SMS? Change to an authorized platform rather than invent a local number. The Panda Base itself names Trip.com as a possible workaround.
- Card authorisation declined? Check bank authentication and whether your reservation is actually confirmed before retrying. See our China payment fallback guide for general non-airline alternatives.
- Sold out online? The Base does not promise entrance to a tourist who arrives without a ticket. The official on-site window route is expressly subject to seats remaining.
- A seller wants an unusual account transfer or private QR payment? Stop and return to the official ticket page. The Base warns about unofficial resale and false paid fast-track claims.
- Wrong date/session? Read the refund/change rule of the channel where you bought the ticket. Official channels do not guarantee that each third-party reseller follows identical conditions.
Gate checklist in English and Chinese
我持外国护照,已经通过官方授权平台购买了成都大熊猫繁育研究基地 ____月____日 上午/下午 门票。请问护照在哪里核验?我没有中国手机号,如果订单无法显示,请问在哪个窗口核对票务信息?
I have a foreign passport and booked the Chengdu Panda Base for [date], [morning/afternoon] through an authorized channel. Which entrance verifies passports? If the reservation cannot be found, which official ticket counter can check my order?
Bring the passport, booking confirmation and any actual ticket reference. The Base publishes a tourism hotline +86 28 8351 0033; check the number on its official page before calling.
Frequently asked questions
Can I book with an overseas number and passport?
The official policy supports foreign-passport admission and an authorized Trip.com online channel, but individual booking and banking verification can still fail. Do not assume all WeChat mini-program fields accept foreign numbers.
Can I buy tickets at the entrance instead?
Only when the Base allows its special on-site counter route and tickets remain. It is not a substitute for booking during a sold-out holiday.
Is Panda Valley included in the main Panda Base ticket?
No. The Base explicitly says its main ticket does not grant access to Dujiangyan Panda Valley.
Can I come in the morning with an afternoon ticket?
The Base says holders of afternoon tickets should respect their afternoon entry period and not arrive early expecting admission.
Continuing from Chengdu to Leshan
The Leshan Giant Buddha is a separate ticket from the Panda Base. If this Chengdu stop is part of a Leshan day, choose the boat or the walking route before you leave the city: Leshan Giant Buddha tickets with a foreign passport.
