Can I Get a Free Air China Transit Hotel in Beijing?
Check your ticket, transfer time and airport first; then use Air China’s official service to reserve before the deadline. A free transit hotel is never automatic.
Short answer: For a qualifying international / regional overnight connection, Air China's 2026 free hotel time window is normally 6–30 hours. A 33-hour layover does not meet that time rule. For domestic–domestic overnight connections the published window is 6–24 hours. Even within the time limit, an eligible ticket and confirmed advance hotel reservation are required.

What if my Air China layover is 33 hours?
That example is 2 hours 50 minutes beyond the published 30-hour maximum for an overnight international / regional connection. Under the ordinary hotel program, it does not qualify based on time. If the airline changed your flight, request a suitable rebooking or separate assistance in writing—there is no guaranteed free-hotel exception simply because the flight changed.
What else does my ticket need to qualify?
For its advertised 2026 product, Air China sets several cumulative tests. Passing the connection-time rule by itself does not grant a hotel. Check the original ticket and the actual flights before relying on a travel-agent listing.

Beijing Capital (PEK) and Beijing Daxing (PKX) are not interchangeable. The published 2026 PKX transit-arrival eligibility window ends 15 October 2026. For a later PKX connection, do not assume the benefit remains available without a new official extension; check PEK and next-year conditions separately.
When must I reserve the hotel?
Cutoffs use the first connecting flight's scheduled arrival in Beijing Time and apply after ticket purchase. No on-site walk-in hotel booking. A flight ticket is not hotel confirmation. Official booking deadlines.

What if Air China changed my flights and I lost hotel eligibility?
Do not pay for a new flight immediately if the airline changed the schedule. First ask the ticket seller and operating carrier to determine whether you are eligible for an involuntary itinerary modification. If your ticket was issued through a travel agent, ask who has authority to reissue the e-ticket. Avoid separately booking a replacement flight that would strand the original onward leg.

First check whether your existing hotel booking has been cancelled. Air China says flight changes may cancel accommodation automatically. If the new itinerary still qualifies, rebook within the deadline; if it cannot be rebooked because of the deadline or no rooms, call 95583. If the new itinerary does not meet the rules, the advertised hotel product cannot be used. Official rebooking rules.
No published universal compensation or hotel-exception guarantee was verified for every fare or cause. If the agent promises a hotel, request the actual confirmation number rather than a chat message saying “eligible.”
Can I enter China to stay at the transit hotel?
Not safely on the basis of the ordinary 24-hour visa-free direct transit rule. China’s NIA distinguishes that restricted-port-area arrangement from entering mainland China to reach a hotel. Holding a transfer itinerary does not grant unrestricted 33-hour permission inside an airport, and not every terminal or carrier permits long airside overnight waits.
If you hope to leave for a hotel, establish whether your nationality and specific route qualify for lawful entry under a visa, ordinary visa-free scheme, or 240-hour transit without a visa. That latter regime depends on nationality, a qualifying onward third country/region, arrival/departure ports and the full itinerary. Airline acceptance and border admission remain separate decisions. Where do I go after landing with a confirmed hotel booking?
Keep your hotel confirmation, boarding passes and travel document available. Once you are legally permitted to enter China, follow the confirmed hotel’s pickup instructions. For eligible Beijing Capital Terminal 3 Standard reservations, Air China describes a Transit Service Counter that can coordinate hotel pickup. Airport changes: A free shuttle may serve only PEK or only PKX. Verify ground transportation before assuming two Beijing airports are interchangeable.
What should I check before paying for my own hotel?
- Admission: you are allowed to enter mainland China and reach the hotel, not merely wait in a secure international transfer zone.
- Travel time: you know your arrival terminal, onward departure airport and realistic ground transfer, passport check and re-entry time.
- Financial exposure: you have a refundable or otherwise acceptable hotel rate, can pay with a supported method and have written airline guidance about itinerary changes.
The airline's “free hotel” product is not a determination of your right to enter China. If you cannot legally leave airside and the scheduled connection is beyond what the airport/carrier supports, ask the airline for a viable alternative route before departure.
For a change to the airline flight rather than a hotel product, original fare and sales-channel terms control. Do not rely on a stranger's recommendation to present fabricated stopover paperwork at check-in.

Does the free transit hotel include meals and transport?
The service includes one night's hotel accommodation, breakfast, and vehicle transfer between the hotel and the airport if available.
Can I choose my hotel?
The Deluxe product does not involve choosing a hotel or priority for a single room; the official page does not state a choice for the Standard product.
