Does my route count?

The last country or region before mainland China and the first country or region after it must be different. For example:

  • Busan → Beijing → Hong Kong: different before and after places; this matches the route shape checked here.
  • Tokyo → Beijing → London: different before and after places; this also matches the route shape checked here.
  • Geneva → Paris → Beijing → Paris: France is both sides of mainland China, so this route does not match the transit rule.

These examples explain the route rule; they are not guarantees for every itinerary.

What you need at immigration

Bring your ordinary passport, confirmed onward ticket with a date and seat, and any visa required by the onward destination. Complete the Arrival/Departure Card before inspection. Tell the airline at check-in and apply at the 240-hour visa-free counter on arrival. Immigration inspection makes the final decision on site.
